NYC Commissioner for International Affairs (2022–2025)

From 2022 to 2025, Edward served as New York City’s Commissioner for International Affairs. As head of the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, he led the office’s mission to act as the City of New York’s primary liaison to the United Nations, the diplomatic community, and the consular corps, building relationships that advanced cooperation, investment, and cultural exchange.

Key Achievements

Strengthened Subnational Diplomacy

Advanced the role of cities in global affairs, demonstrating how local governments can attract foreign direct investment and forge international partnerships.

Diversified New York’s Economy

Helped redirect global interest and investment into technology, fintech, artificial intelligence, life sciences, and climate innovation, driving the city to achieve more tech jobs than finance jobs.
